Richard Lear is a Plainfield, NJ resident and excited to be teaching at duCret. He has been coaching professional actors for auditions for years. He directed Egg Salad for Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center, The Sunshine Boys for AOD – Pat Golden, and was the assistant musical director for Day In Hollywood,
Night In The Ukraine in Los Angeles, CA. As an actor, he was last seen as Lord Capulet in the Smith Street Stage production of Romeo and Juliet in New York City. Most notable work has been Bruce Niles in The Normal Heart, being reviewed on the front page of the Arts section in the New York Times and The Dybbuk with Broadway director Gerald Freedman. Other work includes Julius Caesar, Portia; Coriolanus, Aufidius; Henry IV Part I & II, Vernon, Francis, Coleville; Prague, Beni (NJ Rep); Tooth And Nail, Crumb (NJ Rep); and The World Premiere of The Falsettos Trilogy, Marvin; to name a few.
Some film work includes Waiting For You, Robert; Bring Wood O Trojans, Hector; Hamlet, Son of a Kingpin, Polonius; Lamp Experiment, Prof. Thomas; Are You Lonesome Tonight, David; Black Sky, Alan; and Dedalus, Joseph Warhol.
He is the author of 3 screenplays, 2 short plays and 1 novel and will be producing his latest screenplay this coming summer. Richard is a graduate of Amy Poehler’s Improv School, Upright Citizens Brigade, a member of the NewJersey Repertory Company and Theater Breaking Through Barriers in New York City.
