Artist Statement
Bare materials as I encounter them, searching intentionally or randomly have captured my imagination since my earliest childhood. It takes rocks an eternity to turn into clay. Clay and water make for a soft and malleable material. The fire transforms it into a rock-hard state of being. Fire burning turns organic materials to ashes. Ashes and water make for a muddy mix. Fire transforms this mud into a glass-like, hard glaze that melts on the clay and fuses them into a quite different, novel state of being. There they stay for an eternity. They are in essence of the same kin. Me? I am merely a match-maker in this everlasting process of change.
