Foundation: For Beginners to Intermediate Students

 Improve figure drawing skills by studying the underlying structure of the human form, (bone, muscle, tendon, and cartilage), while sharpening observational skills through careful study of the surface form. Work from casts, photos, skeleton, live models, and overlays of the muscular system as anatomical information is applied to artistic use. The fall semester will cover drawing heads and portraits. The semester will cover the entire body.

SUPPLY LIST:

  • Text – Artistic Anatomy: Richer/Hale (second semester)
  • Bristol pad 11 x 14”  regular or vellum
  • Tracing Paper 14 x 17”
  • Pencils
  • Erasers – Kneaded and Magic Rub
  • Masking Tape

After four weeks:

  • Acetate Sheets 11 x 14”  005
  • Acrylic Paint – 1 color (red, blue, browns or earthtones) & white
  • Permanent marker – fine point
