Beginner Quilt

Beginner level, some basic sewing experience is helpful but not necessary.  Quilting experience is not necessary.

In this beginner-level quilting class, you will learn how to use a rotary cutter to cut the fabric, sew together the pieces to make the quilt top, and then sew it to batting and backing fabric, making a cozy, throw-sized quilt. It will then be quilted by tying the layers together with embroidery floss.

Supply list:

3/8 yard of six different 100% quilt weight cotton prints and/or solid fabrics for the quilt front OR ¾ yards of three different 100% quilt weight cotton prints and/or solid fabrics

1 ¾ yards of 45” wide 100% quilt weight cotton print or solid for the quilt back

1 ¾ yards of 45” wide polyester batting or 1 ¼ yards of 90” wide cotton batting

1 spool of All Purpose thread in a neutral color (tan, off-white, grey)

Sewing machines and tools will be provided in class.

The fabrics and batting can be purchased at Sew Jersey at Fabricland in Greenbrook, JoAnn Fabrics (various locations), or Urban Sewciety in Westfield.
