Summer Chic: Mastering the Shift Dress

Intermediate Level Sewing 2: The Shift Dress

This is a great dress class to learn more about garment construction skills.  The classic shift dress is short and slightly A-line with a center back invisible zipper, bust darts, neckline facings, and a choice of sleeveless, short, or long set-in sleeves.  There are a lot of techniques to learn with this dress, which can be made casual or dressy.  Perfect for summer or any season.

Prerequisite is our Adult Beginner Sewing, or  Intermediate Sewing: Spring Cardigan, or advanced beginner sewing experience.

In the first session, students will take measurements, cut the pattern, and make any pattern alterations to determine the amount of fabric needed.

Students will then purchase fabric, thread, and a zipper.  The fabric needs to be pre-washed to prepare for the second session.
